In cases where your client is rendered permanently disabled, a Supplemental Needs Trust could be prepared to shelter the injury proceeds, while enabling the client to maintain his/her eligibility for needs-based public benefits (i.e., Medicaid, Social Security Disability, SSI, etc.), regardless of the amount of the monetary award received.
